Hello, I’m Kaya — a Chartered Accountant, holistic financial planner, and proud founder of Maisha Financial Planning, which means “ Life” in Swahili.
But beyond the titles, I’m a woman who has walked through the highs and lows of financial life — the stress, the sleepless nights, the resilience, and the rebuilding. My journey hasn’t been perfect, but it has been real. And that’s exactly why I do what I do.
From Financial Hardship to Purpose
For a while, I was the main provider for my family. My husband ran his own business — and then, one devastating fire in 2017 changed everything. Overnight, his business was gone. We weren’t insured, and we had no income protection. I still remember sitting at the kitchen table that night, trying to figure out how to keep everything together — how to protect my children’s future, how to rebuild when everything felt broken.
That experience opened my eyes to something deeper than money management — it showed me the emotional and psychological weight that comes with financial uncertainty. It wasn’t just about pounds and pence; it was about identity, security, and dignity.
Why I Created Maisha Financial Planning
I founded Maisha Financial Planning to change the way people — especially women, BAME communities, and small business owners — experience money.
For too long, financial planning has been cold, technical, and often disconnected from the realities of our lives. I wanted to bring heart, empathy, and cultural understanding into the world of finance.
Maisha Financial Planning isn’t just about building wealth — it’s about creating a life of purpose, balance, and legacy. A life that feels as good on the inside as it looks on paper.
My Mission
My mission is simple: To empower you to align your life goals with your financial goals, so that money becomes a tool — not a trap.
Through my M.A.I.S.H.A.™ Framework, I help people uncover their Money Story, set Aligned Goals, build Intentional Plans, establish Sustainable Boundaries, find Holistic Alignment, and create an Active Legacy that lasts beyond them.
Because true wealth isn’t just about what you earn — it’s about how you live, love, and give.
Why This Matters
As the daughter of first-generation immigrants, I’ve seen first hand what happens when hardworking people pour their hearts into their dreams but don’t have the right financial support or education to thrive.
I’ve watched my parents, my clients, and my community work tirelessly, only to be left behind by systems that weren’t built with us in mind. That’s why I’m passionate about changing the narrative — to make financial wellbeing accessible, inclusive, and emotionally intelligent.
Let’s Build Your Beautiful Life
If you’ve ever felt like money was a source of stress rather than peace, please know you’re not alone.
You deserve a roadmap that honours your story, supports your vision, and helps you build a life that truly feels like you.
That’s what Maisha Financial Planning is here for — to help you rise in wealth, confidence, and purpose. Will you join me?
